The Saadhu Testament is Dissanayake's second novel. His first novel the Kat Bitha was the winner of the state literary award for best novel in 1998. He became the first Sri Lankan to win that award twice when the Evesdropper was selected as the best novel for 2006.

Wessan Novu Wedun is the Sinhala version of his 'Healer and the drug pusher'. Similiarly Moonstone is the English version of Chandraratnage Bawanthara Charikawa. The Sinhala language book is not a translation of the English novel or vice verce. They are the same story written in two different languages.
